A Safe Nightlife Starts Here.

Sip Safe is a city-wide nightlife safety initiative launching in Toronto to address drink tampering, blurred consent, and the rising risks of nights out.

At its core, Sip Safe is built on one belief:

When we protect each other, everyone gets home safer.

This isn’t a campaign about fear—it’s about action. It’s about giving bars, guests, and communities the tools and visibility they need to shift the culture.

One night. One venue. One story at a time.

Why Now?

Toronto leads the country in nightlife activity. But as the city comes alive, the risks rise.

Sexual assaults rose

15% in 2023

many in nightlife settings

Drink tampering

is on the rise,

with drug-facilitated assaults up 20%

Young adults

aged 19–29

are the most impacted

Over 40% of women

in Toronto say

they feel unsafe

going out at night

Most assaults go unreported,

many venues don’t have protocols  in place to respond

Other cities—like Montreal and Laval—have taken action with Angel Shot programs and drink cover rollouts.

Toronto hasn’t.

Until now.

What DO We Stand For?

Sip Safe is more than a campaign—it’s a commitment.

To culture change.

To community safety.

To make nights out feel good again.

We believe safety is a shared responsibility.

That storytelling can shift systems.

And that nightlife doesn’t have to come with conditions.

We are Here For:

Nightlife Regulars.

especially women and LGBTQIA+ folks, who deserve to feel safe.

Partners, Sponsors, and Organizations.

who see safety

as essential — not optional.

Advocates and Allies.

with stories to share

and voices to amplify.

Bar Teams.

who want to protect their guests

and lead by example.

Our Vision:

1.

A city where safety is visible, not assumed.

2.

Where guests are informed,
not left guessing.

3.

Where stories are shared,
not silenced.

4.

Where the culture of going out is rooted in care, not risk.

Sip Safe starts in Toronto. But it doesn’t stop here.

Polly Leung
Founder of Sip Safe

Polly Leung is a strategist and storyteller with a background in PR, digital marketing, and non-profit communications. Before stepping into the hospitality world, she spent years working in health and social impact spaces—often at the intersection of campaigns, culture, and behaviour change.

Now working in hospitality, Polly brings that same lens to nightlife. Sip Safe was born from conversations she couldn’t ignore—stories shared quietly, but often. Rather than treating safety as an afterthought, she set out to build something proactive, visible, and rooted in culture change.

Through Sip Safe, she works with bars, brands, and communities to create safer spaces—where care isn’t just reactive, but part of the atmosphere.
